Established in 1893, Columbia University Press is one of the largest university presses in the United States. It publishes a variety of reference and scholarly books in history, religion, philosophy and natural science. The press is also a publisher of classic reference works, including The Columbia Gazetteer of the World, The Columbia Encyclopedia and The Columbia Granger s World of Poetry. It publishes more than 150 new titles every year in the fields of international affairs, science, literature, economics, business and social work. In addition, the press publishes the works of authors, such as John Rawls, Gilles Deleuze, Edward Said and Julia Kristeva. Located in New York City, Columbia University Press undertakes electronic publishing.
