Operational for more than 75 years, the New York Board of Fire Underwriters has been providing fire prevention and education for residents of New York City. The organization, through a series of lectures, films and demonstrations, offers fire safety educational services to over 1 million children every year. The New York Board of Fire Underwriters serves grammar school students of several private and public schools. The organization also publishes fire safety manuals for primary-grade school teachers. Additionally, it sponsors an annual fire safety essay and poster contest for children in the primary grades of public and private schools. The New York Board of Fire Underwriters works in collaboration with the Society of Fire Protection Engineers and the National Fire Protection Association.
