Dr. Jennifer Soo Hoo is an Associate Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. She serves as Medical Director of the Adult Sports Medicine Service and Associate Chair of Graduate Medical Education and Faculty Development. She also serves as Fellowship Director of the New York Presbyterian (NYP) Sports Fellowship Program as well as Assistant Residency Program Director of NYP Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Medicine Residency Program. She is a dual board-certified physician in Sports Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. She specializes in providing comprehensive non-operative sports medicine care for active individuals. She is highly skilled in an array of modern joint and tendon procedures including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), ultrasound guided injections, and ultrasound tenotomies to help improve patient's pain and restore function. She is ISMST certified to perform medical shockwave treatments. Dr. Soo Hoo is currently a U.S Soccer Network Physician and works with the US Soccer U-20 women’s team and the US Women's CP Soccer team. Dr. Soo Hoo has particular expertise in treating acute and chronic sports injuries and tendon injury. She takes a personalized approach to evaluating each active individual. She uses her personal experience as a former collegiate soccer player as well as current experiences as a team physician for professional sports teams to better understand and guide her patients. Dr. Cheng earned her bachelor’s degrees in molecular and cell biology and psychology from UC Berkeley and her MD from University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She completed neurology residency at New York-Presbyterian – Weill Cornell Medicine, where she was chief resident in her final year. She underwent a clinical fellowship in vascular neurology at UC San Francisco Medical Center, followed by an NIH Strokenet research fellowship. She served as the director of stroke services at NewYork-Presbyterian – Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and the inaugural site director of the NYP Brooklyn Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit. In 2018 she joined the neurology faculty at Montefiore-Einstein, where she was an assistant professor of neurology, clinical liaison for the Montefiore Comprehensive Stroke Center Network, and chair of the Comprehensive Stroke Center Case Review Committee. She returned to WCM in 2023 to be the site chief for neurology at Lower Manhattan Hospital and the departmental chair of quality improvement.
