The Onondaga County Probation Department works toward creating safer communities by helping offenders become productive members of society. The department offers a variety of supervision, treatment and prevention programs for long-term public safety and reduction of further victimization. Its probation officers collect supervision, investigation, drug testing fees and restitution surcharges. The Onondaga County Probation Department s probation officers also conducts over 7,000 drug screenings each year. The department offers juvenile pre-diversion and 2,402 pretrial release programs. It is a partner in the Syracuse Violence Intervention and Prevention Project. Founded in 1999, the Onondaga County Probation Department is located in Syracuse, N.Y.
