About Chartwell Chartwell Booksellers has long combined the best of the old and the new. Now celebrating our 27th year as an independent bookstore in the heart of midtown-Manhattan, we are the only standing bookshop in the world devoted to the writings of Winston Churchill. We also maintain a select, exclusively hardcover stock of newly-published general non-fiction and fiction titles, and classic English and American literature. Named for Sir Winston's legendary home in Kent, just outside of London, Chartwell offers the finest antiquarian selection of Churchill first editions, and related ephemera, extraordinary autograph material, and most ( if not all ) of the many books written about him, both in and out-of-print. Photography Books Chartwell Booksellers regularly presents exhibitions in our adjoining photo gallery featuring giants like Eugene Atget and Walker Evans, as well as innumerable contemporary photographers. We are also pioneers in the exhibiting of important jazz photographers and continue to represent William P. Gottlieb, Chuck Stewart, and many others. Our in-store reading series has always been eclectic - from appearances by actors like Martin Sheen and Kate Nelligan reading new works of fiction and non-fiction, to Winston Churchill's official biographer, Sir Martin Gilbert, reading from his latest book, to the actor Alec Baldwin reading from the works of Winston Churchill. For complete details ( and many pictures ) relating to any aspect of our history mentioned here, please visit our Chartwell Archives.

Amazing collection of Churchill books and more, feels like a private collection display and a bookstore together. Tucked away behind the elevator bank, it's a gem in midtown.
