The Century House Historical Society in Rosendale, NY is a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to preserving the industrial history of the Rosendale natural cement region. Located at the Snyder Estate in New York's historic Hudson Valley, the Society offers a historical museum showcasing the history of the Snyder Estate along with the Widow Jane Mine, the only former cement mine in the area open to the general public.
The Society presents and preserves information about the Rosendale Cement industry, the D&H Canal & railroads, local history, business documents, photographs, geology, and more. Visitors can explore the Estate on self-guided tours daily from 10AM to 4PM, with the Museum and Carriage House open for visits by small groups on Sundays 1-4pm during the official season. Please note that the Museum is currently closed until May 2025.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Snyder Estate Natural Cement Historic District offers a unique blend of local history and contemporary art for visitors to enjoy.
