The Center for the Urban River at Beczak (CURB) is a collaborative initiative between Sarah Lawrence College and the Beczak Environmental Education Center, aimed at enhancing environmental literacy and stewardship of the Hudson River and urban waterways. Founded in June 2013, CURB focuses on education, research, and community engagement, particularly emphasizing the development of youth in Yonkers and promoting environmental justice and inclusivity.
Continuing the legacy of the Beczak Environmental Education Center, CURB offers a variety of programs for all ages, including river exploration and conservation efforts. Through initiatives like seining, water monitoring, and community arts events, CURB fosters a vibrant, accessible learning environment that encourages public participation in science and sustainability efforts.
