Dr. Joseph M. Lee MD MS FACC RPVI FASE is a board certified cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist who has a keen interest in echocardiography and electrophysiology. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and biweekly echocardiography panel reader at the New York-Presbyterian/ Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He is the Medical Director of vascular ultrasound at the Columbia Doctors Medical Group (CDMG) and Columbia Doctors of the Hudson Valley (CDHV) ICAVL certified laboratories. Dr. Lee earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Biological Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and he currently serves as a MIT Educational Counselor. In the Tannenbaum laboratory, he published his graduate research thesis on nitric oxide mediated oxidative stress and he subsequently went on to complete medical school at the Temple University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor society. Dr. Lee completed his residency and fellowships in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging all at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/ Weill Cornell Medical Center. During his three fellowships, he achieved expert proficiency in vascular ultrasound and nuclear cardiology and Level III specializations in Comprehensive Echocardiography and Electrophysiology. Dr. Lee is board certified and has maintained recertification in Cardiovascular Disease, Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Comprehensive Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Vascular Ultrasound, Hypertension, and Internal Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Fellow Registered Physician of Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) and Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE). After completing his advanced imaging fellowship, Dr. Lee joined Columbia University Irving Medical Center as a cardiovascular consultant and teaching faculty. He has written questions for the RPVI national vascular board exam, co-authored several peer-reviewed articles in medical journals and textbooks and presented at both national conferences and community events. He serves as a cardiovascular consultant and core panel reader for cardiac device management, vascular ultrasound, echo and nuclear cardiac imaging at the CDMG and CDHV academic faculty practices for the greater New York community. Dr. Lee has been an employee at the New-York-Presbyterian Hospital since 2005. In addition to providing cutting edge cardiovascular care individualized for each patient, Dr. Lee also promotes and practices the maintenance of an optimal lifestyle, diet and exercise to enhance one’s own health and well-being. He currently plays competitive tennis (NTRP rated 4.5) and trains in martial arts. He lives with his family in New York.
