History
Dr. Covitz purchased Carmel Animal Hospital in 1985 following several years of work as a general practitioner with a large veterinary office in New Jersey, and then as an emergency and critical care veterinarian on Long Island. His goal was to bring a more personalized experience to his clients (human) and patients (furry) and be part of the Carmel community that he's called home for 35 years.
Specialties
Carmel Animal Hospital (CAH) is a full-service medical and surgical facility where Dr. Jack Covitz and his professional staff offer preventative exams, vaccinations, dental procedures, spay, neuter, and other surgeries, and care for sick animals, on an outpatient basis or around the clock in the onsite hospital. CAH treats cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, Guinea pigs, hamsters and mice. All procedures, including x-rays, ultrasounds and dental work, are done on the premises. Surgeries are performed with state-of-the-art monitoring and anesthesia; visiting specialists are available to perform complicated procedures and see patients with cardiac problems. Most laboratory specimens are sent out, providing next-day results, but critical care patients have lab work done in-house. CAH has an excellent rapport with area veterinarians and specialists; the latter are referred to on a case-by-case basis. House calls are available in some cases.
