Candace L. Johnson, MD

Elvira Parravicini, MD, is a perinatologist/neonatologist, Director of the Neonatal Comfort Care Program, and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University Medical Center. She also obtained a Certification in Palliative Medicine from Harvard University.Her passion for helping the most fragile patients in the neonatal population inspired Dr. Parravicini to create a unique and innovative program for infants affected by life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. The Neonatal Comfort Care Program addresses the complex medical and non-medical needs of infants and their families. The interdisciplinary Neonatal Comfort Care Program includes a core team with a nurse coordinator, a social worker, a program manager, and Dr. Parravicini serves as medical director. Other NICU professionals, including speech pathologist, lactation consultant, child life specialist, psychologist, and chaplaincy collaborate with the core team. She works closely with specialists from maternal-fetal medicine, cardiology, pediatric surgery, and other disciplines to provide evidence-based, comprehensive care to infants with complex medical problems.Dr. Parravicini believes each baby's life is precious and should be welcomed and cherished. Dr. Matthew Crystal, MD FACC FSCAI is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2001 before completing a Pediatrics residency, Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship and Pediatric Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Sick Kids Hospital, University of Toronto in 2008. He worked as an attending in the Pediatric Catheterization Laboratory at Texas Children's before joining the team at NYP Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital in 2012. He serves as the Associate Director of the Pediatric Catheterization Laboratory at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital New York Presbyterian and is the Director of the recently created Fetal Cardiac Intervention Team at NYP.

Erica Spiegel completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at Barnard College and her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, graduating in 2006. She is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. She has worked as a reproductive genetic counselor at Columbia since the start of her career, counseling patients for a wide range of prenatal and preconception indications and participating in a variety of clinical research studies utilizing emerging reproductive genetic technologies. She has a particular interest in improving understanding of the genetic causes of fetal anomalies as well as the patient's experience, adaptation, and decision-making around fetal diagnoses.
