Penn Yan Plumbing & Heating History Penn Yan Plumbing and Heating, originally a plumbing heating contracting firm, was founded in 1951 by Patrick D'Amico. During the 1970's, Pat's inventory of plumbing and heating supplies was growing as his installation business was flourishing. Soon, other local contractors were purchasing some of their supplies from his stock. Sensing an opportunity, Pat opened a storefront to sell materials off Champlin Avenue, under the current Wagner Restaurant. Business was brisk, and Pat moved Penn Yan Plumbing and Heating to a larger facility in the Lake Street Plaza in 1979. Pat's son Don D'Amico joined the business in 1980. Don took over the business in 1983, and his wife, Nancy D'Amico, then joined the company. Growing sales and a need for a larger and more visible location resulted in the purchase of a competitor in 2006 and a move to the current location, at 100 Horizon Park Drive.
