Monroe Board of Cooperative Educational Services has been operational for more than 50 years. A full-service educational institution, Monroe BOCES serves various public and private schools, area colleges, community agencies and other local partners. The institute functions as an extension of the local school districts and the New York State Education Department. Located in Fairport, N.Y., it serves more than 40,000 students in grades kindergarten through 12. Creekside School, a part of Monroe 1 BOCES, serves students with multiple disabilities between the ages of 5 and 21. The school focuses on the development of academic, communication, social, vocational and daily living skills of students. It also offers community-based instruction and music therapy and cooking activities. Creekside School conducts off-site classes in various other schools in Fairport, Webster, Penfield, Brighton and Pittsford in New York. In addition, the school administers a day treatment program that serves students with developmental disabilities and psychiatric illnesses.
