RPS has had a number of firsts in its industry, such as one of the first paramedic services in its area to be certified as an advanced life support first responder, one of the first to utilize cellular telemetry and one of the first paramedic services to have a bike medic program. The Rockland Paramedic Services Special Operations division was entered into service in September 2002.
