The Big Apple Softball League (BASL) is NYC's only LGBTQIA softball league, proudly founded in 1977 to promote inclusivity and open participation for all individuals, regardless of race, religion, age, gender expression, or sexual orientation. With both Spring and Fall seasons, BASL offers a vibrant mix of double-header slowpitch games on weekends along with numerous social events and fundraisers throughout the year.

In addition to recreational play, BASL engages the community through special events such as the Opening Party, End of Season Awards Ceremony, and the HoliGay Party. The league also hosts the annual Gotham Softball Classic tournament and recognizes outstanding athletes through their Hall of Fame nominations.
