Beth W. Rackow, MD

As the Medical and Laboratory Director at Columbia University Fertility Center, Eric Forman, MD, HCLD, oversees the medical practice as well as the IVF embryology and andrology laboratories. He also actively sees patients with infertility and those seeking to preserve their fertility. Dr. Forman has extensive clinical and laboratory research experience. He has published more than 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals on a wide range of topics in assisted reproductive technology (ART) and serves as an Associate Editor at Fertility and Sterility. He has a special interest in using preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) to optimize IVF and improve selection for elective single embryo transfer (eSET). A randomized controlled trial he led demonstrated, for the first time, that transferring a single chromosomally-normal embryo can achieve the same live birth rates as transferring two untested embryos. After publication of this paper, eSET rates skyrocketed and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine references Dr. Forman’s study in its guideline on the number of embryos to transfer in IVF. He also has an interest in fertility preservation, and a study he led proved that egg freezing using the rapid vitrification technology does not increase the risk of genetic abnormalities in the resulting embryos. This study was cited as a “watershed in ART” by one of the world’s leading experts on cryopreservation. Dr. Forman specializes in providing individualized patient care to solve each unique couple’s challenge. I am a pediatric gastroenterologist who strives to provide comprehensive care for children in the context of their families. I specialize in conditions that affect the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)—both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. As Director of the Pediatric IBD Center at Columbia and former director of Pediatric GI Inpatient Services at New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, I collaborate with a team of experts who regularly tackle the most unique and complex challenges in medicine. If your child is experiencing a routine condition, we will treat it as the most important condition your family has faced. We combine advanced techniques of diagnosis—in the lab and through state-of-the-art endoscopy and comprehensive imaging—with targeted treatment that includes both medication and advanced procedures. I am naturally an educator, of children and families and also of medical students, residents, and fellows. I lead the training of future healthcare professionals in both the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Institute of Human Nutrition. I also serve in local and national efforts to improve the care of gastrointestinal diseases. I am the vice chair of the Clinical Care and Quality Committee of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and former co-chair of the greater New York chapter Healthcare Professional Engagement Committee of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. In these roles I have collaborated with colleagues across many institutions to make fundamental improvements in medicine across the country. Finally, I am committed to advancing pediatric medicine and facilitating innovation. My research focuses on improving the ways in which we deliver care, spanning specialized techniques of endoscopy to targeted treatments in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. I am the recipient of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Advanced Fellowship in Pediatric Endoscopy award.

Dr. Joe Vongvorachoti is a Physiatrist treating patients in New York City and the surrounding communities. He treats patients with a full range of issues, including carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy, Achilles tendonopathy, and pain in the hip, knee, shoulder, neck, and back. For his undergraduate degree, Dr. Vongvorachoti attended Cornell University. He pursued his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. He continued his medical education at Mount Sinai, where he completed his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Vongvorachoti has also completed a fellowship program at the Hospital for Special Surgery focused on Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine. Patients visiting Dr. Vongvorachoti can receive a full range of medical services. He provides procedures including epidural and facet injections under fluoroscopy, SI joint injections, trigger point injections, ultrasound injections, and hip, shoulder, and knee injections of steroids, and viscosupplementation such as Orthovisc and Euflexxa.
