Beacon Sloop Club
The Beacon Sloop Club, founded by folk singer and activist Pete Seeger, is a 501(c)(3) volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation, protection, and restoration of the Hudson River and its surrounding waterways. Through advocacy, education, and celebration, the club provides free river access via sailing opportunities on the ferry sloop Woody Guthrie, a replica of historical vessels that once navigated the Hudson.
In addition to offering free seasonal music festivals, the Beacon Sloop Club hosts various events, lectures, and classes throughout the year. Monthly meetings feature potlucks and a Circle of Song, welcoming community members to engage in the club's mission and connect with one another.
