History
I have been a Nurse Practitioner since 2004. We are the only other profession, besides that of an MD, that can diagnose, prescribe and treat mental illness using medication mangement and talk therapy. I was graduated from NYU Graudaute School Of Nursing, and received my BSN-RN from William Paterson University in NJ Regarding my track record - Yelp is removing/filtering most of my good reviews (apparently they are too good and therefore not believable), and allowing 2 negative reviews, which are not true (written by the same person who I haven't seen for over 3 years) - to influence my overall rating. Please also check the filtered reviews for additional information/ feedback/ perspective. Not everyone can be helped, no matter how good we might be. And it's important to find the right provider for your needs and personality style. Thanks.
Specialties
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I diagnose and treat mental illnesses of all kinds, including but not limited to: Depression, Anxiety, ADD/ADHD, Addictions, Drug/Alcohol Problems, Impulse Control Disorders, etc. Untreated/undertreadeadult ADD presents profound underachievement, in all areas of life, and by extension poor self image, anxiety and depression : the harder you try, the worse it gets. The correct diagnosis, with the correct treatment can change your life! In the area of addictions, I use medication to great effect to reduce craving and to block the effects of the addictive substance in order to make it easier for my patients to maintain abstinence or to reduce the use of the substance that is causing dysfunction. There is usually an underlying reason that caused the addiction in the first place, and if we combine therapy with the use of medication, we can often achieve a permanent

I'm responding to the comment Barb made on my review. A suggestion to find a different provider is one thing. An unprovoked hissy fit by a trained professional is quite another. Psych doctors...
