Dr. Advincula is a leader in minimally invasive surgical techniques and one of the world’s most experienced gynecologic robotic surgeons. He has published and taught extensively in the area of minimally invasive surgery as well as developed surgical instruments in use worldwide. Dr. Advincula has extensive experience in treating complex and challenging cases of endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and pelvic masses. He is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. After graduating with honors from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Dr. Advincula completed both an OB/GYN residency and a minimally invasive surgery fellowship at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Afterward, he spent 10 years at the University of Michigan where he rose to the rank of Professor and Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Division and Fellowship as well as Endometriosis Center prior to joining Florida Hospital Celebration Health in late 2009 as Director of the Center for Specialized Gynecology. While in Florida, Dr. Advincula served as the Director of the Celebration Health Endometriosis Center and the AAGL/SRS Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery. He was also Medical Director of Gynecologic Robotics at Florida Hospital as well as Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Advincula was promoted to Education Institute Director for the Nicholson Center, an advanced medical and surgical simulation training facility. Since 2014, Dr. Advincula has held the position of Levine Family Professor, Vice-Chair of Women’s Health & Chief of Gynecology at the Sloane Hospital for Women, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, bringing more than 15 years of clinical expertise, innovation, and leadership. In addition to his departmental responsibilities, Dr. Advincula is the Medical Director of the Simulation Center for NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. He served as President of the AAGL, an 8000-member organization promoting minimally invasive surgery worldwide, from 2014 to 2016.

Born to French parents, Vincent Duron moved to New York during his early childhood. He left New York to obtain his undergraduate degree at Stanford University, after which he spent the next few years teaching 4th and 6th grade in Queens and Moscow. He returned to New York to obtain his medical degree at the University of Rochester where he graduated with Distinction in Community Service in 2007. He completed his residency in general surgery in 2012 at Brown University Medical School/Rhode Island Hospital where he received multiple research and teaching awards, including the Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. He then returned to the West Coast to complete a fellowship in pediatric surgical critical care at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (2013) and then to Texas to complete a fellowship in pediatric surgery at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School (2015). Throughout his years of training, Dr. Duron performed clinical research leading to the publication of multiple articles in pediatric trauma and global health issues. His interests include general pediatric surgery, in particular neonatal anomalies, minimal access surgery, and the critical care treatment of pediatric surgical and trauma patients, as well as access to surgical care in developing countries. He has been involved in multiple global health projects in Russia, Cameroon, Malawi, Kenya, and most recently is actively developing a trauma registry in Iquitos, Peru. At Columbia/NYP, Dr. Duron serves as Co-Director of Fetal Therapy, Surgical Director of the Pediatric ICU, and Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery. In his clinical work, he places an emphasis on developing protocols and evidence-driven measures to treat our sickest surgical patients. In particular he is interested in the study of fluid resuscitation and respiratory failure in the pediatric surgical and trauma patient.

Dr. Ramsay Fuleihan is the clinical director of the Division of Pediatric Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology and a professor of pediatrics at Columbia. Throughout his career his main research interest has been the pathogenesis and treatment of primary immunodeficiency diseases. Dr. Fuleihan was formerly chief of the division of allergy and immunology at Sidra Medical and Research Center in Qatar, and Director of Primary Immunodeficiency Clinical Services and the Jeffrey Modell Diagnostic and Research Center for Primary Immunodeficiencies at Ann & Robert H Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Fuleihan earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, completed his pediatric residency at Duke University Medical Center, and fellowship in allergy and immunology at the Children’s Hospital-Boston at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Fuleihan is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is an active fellow of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology, where he served as Chair of the Primary Immunodeficiency Committee; a member of the Clinical Immunology Society, where he served as chair of the CME committee; a member of the European Society for Immunodeficiencies; and a member of the Society for Pediatric Research.
