Argot Language Exchanges

History

Argot came about when founder Lauren was set to return to New York from a 3-month language exchange program in Montpellier, France. While the 4 hours of daily French classes helped her improve her writing and reading skills tremendously, she only became comfortable speaking the language through every day practice with local friends she had made. They regularly got together for drinks, speaking in both French and English, and built an awesome community of language learners. This is exactly the fun experience that Argot seeks to re-create for you!

Specialties

Argot organizes language exchanges in NYC. These fun events are a great opportunity for you to improve your foreign language skills, meet locals and internationals, and expand your community in NY. At the event, you'll be paired with people native to the language you're learning who are trying to learn your native language. Taking turns being the novice and the expert, you'll speak for 8 minutes in each language and repeat with other partners. Wine, beer, snacks, and table topics will be provided to ensure great and easy conversation! Head to our website for more information, the event schedule, and sign up.
