Yoga retreat and spiritual-educational center just over one hour from New York City. Many folks come to de-stress and take time away from the hustle and bustle. Located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, the Ashram provides a serene, natural environment with woods and meadows surrounding a lake. Accommodations are simple and meals are vegetarian. Very comfortable scenario for those who come alone. We offer daily meditation programs with Yoga-Vedanta studies, chanting and readings and daily yoga and Sanskrit classes, plus classical Indian dance and music instruction and a variety of weekend workshops and special events. The Ashram is open year-round and welcomes guests from all origins, faiths and cultural backgrounds.Some rooms are dorm style and camping is available.

Jivamukti Yoga Center Jersey City is a franchise of Jivamukti Yoga. It offers a wide variety of asana classes as well as private instruction. The class list includes Jivamukti Open Classes, Jivamukti Beginner Vinyasa, Jivamukti Beginner Basics, and Jivamukti Spiritual Warrior. In addition the center also offers pre-natal yoga, kids yoga, and aerial yoga. Intensive workshops, meditation classes, spritual study and kirtan are held on a monthly or weekly rotation. The Jivamukti Yoga method is a proprietary style of yoga created by David Life and Sharon Gannon in 1984. Jivamukti is a physical, ethical, and spiritual practice, combining a vigorous hatha yoga, Vinyasa-based physical style with adherence to five central tenets: shastra (scripture), bhakti (devotion), ahimsa (non-violence), nada (sound), and dhyana (meditation). Animal rights, veganism, environmentalism, and social activism are also emphasized.
