Dr. Alexander Neuwirth is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in advanced hip and knee reconstruction, with a focus on non-operative and surgical treatment of early, middle, and late-stage arthritic conditions of the hip and knee. For patients requiring surgical intervention, Dr. Neuwirth specializes in anterior approach hip replacement, knee replacements, as well as complex revision surgeries to treat failed hip and knee replacements. Dr. Neuwirth received his medical degree from Rutgers University-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he also completed his undergraduate degree. Following medical school, Dr. Neuwirth trained as a resident in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also spent a year as a postdoctoral research fellowship in the McKay Orthopaedic Research Laboratory. Dr. Neuwirth completed a fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and currently serves as an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Attending Physician for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, within the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Neuwirth is actively engaged in ongoing clinical outcomes research in the field of joint replacement and reconstruction. His primary research efforts are focused on the eradication of infection following hip and knee replacements.

He has been awarded multiple research grants studying wrist and elbow reconstruction techniques, nerve gliding in the upper extremity, and continues to pursue these efforts at Columbia University. He has published over 30 peer reviewed journal articles, authored several book chapters in leading Orthopedic surgery textbooks, and presented his research at national and international conferences. Dr. Dua is a participating member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES). Karan strives to help his patients achieve their functional goals and works rigorously to improve their experience. Dr. Elaine Wan is the Esther Aboodi Associate Professor of Medicine in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at Columbia University Medical Center, College of Physicians and Surgeons and attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She is trained in Internal Medicine, Clinical Cardiology and is an invasive cardiac electrophysiologist. She is the Director of Electrophysiology Research and oversees all electrophysiology clinical trials. She performs implantation of cardiac devices including pacemaker and defibrillators, as well as ablation of arrhythmias. Dr. Wan is a physician-scientist and focuses on development of novel treatments for heart failure, vascular dysfunction and arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation. She is a translational researcher also interested in development of innovative imaging modalities to improve ablation delivery. Dr. Wan is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is also a recipient of the American Heart Association Scientist Development Grant, grant support from the Foundation of Gender Specific Medicine, Columbia University Louis V. Gerstner Jr. Scholars Program, and Columbia University Provost's Grants Program for Junior Faculty who Contribute to the Diversity Goals of the University.
