The stations which make up Max Media of Arkansas first came together in 1998, when the principals of KVOM, Inc. formed River Valley Radio Group, LLC, and acquired three Russellville/Dardanelle stations, KWKK-FM, KCJC-FM, and KCAB-AM. They put those together with an FM license in Atkins, AR, and successfully obtained the construction permit from the FCC in April 1998. That station eventually became KVLD-FM. The six stations were purchased by Max Media of Arkansas, LLC, in June of 2003. The Morrilton stations operate out of a facility on Highway 113 West, while the Russellville stations operate as River Valley Radio in their studios at 2705 East Parkway.
