Founded in 1960, United Federation of Teachers, also known as UFT, represents more than 228,000 individuals. The organization conducts workshops and offers a range graduate-level courses for more than 30,000 members annually. In affiliation with the New York City Department of Education it administers the Dial-A-Teacher program, which includes homework assistance to more than 75,600 public school students and parents annually.
