Southwest Acupuncture College
History
Southwest Acupuncture College opened in Santa Fe in 1980 and received ACAOM accreditation in 1989. The Boulder campus opened in 1997. SWAC is approved by the NM Board of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the CO Commission on Higher Education, and the California Acupuncture Board. We are VA-certified and a member of the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Southwest Acupuncture College operates a student-run, on-campus clinic that offers low-cost quality acupuncture treatments and herbal formulas to the Santa Fe community. Southwest Acupuncture College is a classical school of Oriental medicine offering accredited degree programs leading to a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (M.S.O.M.) or a Master of Science in Acupuncture (M.S. Ac.) Our educational philosophy maintains that teaching is best accomplished by doing. Therefore the curriculum is centered on a hands-on and clinical approach to education. With the primary responsibility of preparing students to become independent healthcare providers, our foremost goal is to provide an excellent education to prospective practitioners of Oriental medicine.
