Silver City Engineering Department

The Silver City Fire Department, established in 1875, is a dedicated and prepared organization actively engaged in the community through public education and fire prevention. With a rich history of evolution from a volunteer organization to a fully paid career department, the department proudly serves the Silver City area with a team of 21 shift personnel and 4 support staff, covering approximately 130 square miles of territory.

Comprised of two stations and one administrative office, the Silver City Fire Department provides services to an estimated 10,545 citizens within City Limits and 31,002 throughout the county. Led by Fire Chief Milo E. Lambert, the department is committed to maintaining a strong state of preparedness to respond to emergencies and ensuring the safety of the community for over 13 decades.
