The Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is a nonprofit organization responsible for preserving the railroad property of important historic significance and remarkable scenic beauty. It is headquartered in Albuquerque, N.M., and has various other locations in New Mexico, including one in Chama. The firm preserves and interprets the railroad and supports its operation for the people of Colorado and New Mexico. We stopped by here on a Saturday at 10am, hoping to see the train off. But it closed. We walked around the yellow building, seeing coal tower which is rare. Old but charming.
