History
A born and raised musician, owner Erika Sayar has been around stringed instruments since birth. After her father, Karl Safran of Safran Strings, Inc. passed away in 2005, Erika took over his inventory and opened The Violin Doctor, Inc. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from The College of New Jersey and a Diploma in Violin Making & Repair from the North Bennet Street School in Boston and has been studying in the summers under master violin restorer Hans J. Nebel for the last 10 years. On staff, MaryAnn Connolly, an active violinist, is the shop foreman helping to run day to day operations and take care of client repairs and other needs. Evelyne Morel, daugther of master restorer Rene Morel, has joined the team to help maintain the rental inventory. Dave Helmer is our school liaison working with local teachers for instrument repairs/rentals. Connie Safran, retired corporate controller and cellist, is the billing manager.
