Founded in 1979, SHARE opened its first residence in 1982 at 104 Cottage Place and expanded to a second location in 1996 at 130 Prospect Street, both situated near Ridgewood's central business district.

The organization is staffed by an Executive Director, a full-time cook serving daily meals, two part-time administrative assistants, and an hourly maintenance worker. SHARE’s all-volunteer Board of Trustees and Directors is committed to upholding the mission of creating a supportive community for seniors, offering services such as private room and board, utilities, house cleaning, balanced meals, and on-site laundry facilities.

With no religious or government affiliation, SHARE focuses on fostering solidarity among seniors, providing a convenient and comfortable living experience. Residents at SHARE Inc. can also benefit from free on-site parking, access to the Village Service Senior Bus Stop, and a friendly atmosphere designed to cater to the needs of independent older adults.
