River Edge Volunteer Ambulance Service Inc
The River Edge Volunteer Ambulance Service (REVAS) has been serving the community since its incorporation in 1949, providing exemplary emergency medical care free of charge to the residents of River Edge, NJ. Initially composed of 43 members, the organization has faced challenges in attracting new volunteers to replace those retiring, particularly during daytime hours.
In August 2021, REVAS entered into a contract with Holy Name Hospital to ensure continued emergency medical services from 7 AM to 7 PM, relieving residents of any out-of-pocket expenses for ambulance bills during these hours. The organization remains hopeful that this situation is temporary and that it will return to a 24/7 operation with the support of dedicated volunteers from the community.
