Always tinkering around with cars, I got my first job as a mechanic in a small shop in Union City way back in 1980. Then in 1982 a shop owner of one of the most reputable shops in Jersey City stole me by making me an offer I couldn't refuse. I was employed there for 8 years before I went and ventured off on my own. I started Pica's Automotive in 1990, 24 years ago in a small 3 car commercial garage not far from the location I am at today. I've grown to a 8 car shop and do all types of mechanical repairs imaginable. I take pride in every car we fix. For the past 10 years we have been a Certified Approved AAA shop. Out of the 142 shops in Jersey City, AAA recognizes Pica's Automotive and only 4 others. To become a AAA shop I have to offer certain warranties, have certain insurance plans, certain equipment, and have to be a certified ASE technician which I am in several specialty areas.
Honesty and Affordability is what I've based Pica's Automotive on in the last 24 years. Our AAA shop may look small but it's not. It's 3000 square feet inside. We do every type of Auto Repair needed, foreign and domestic which include but not limited to oil changes, brakes, shocks, exhaust, check engine lights and much much more, we also specialize in Steering, Suspension, and Alignments. Here at Pica's Automotive we fix car's that the other shops can't fix. We actually do a lot of repairs for the local shops in the area. We also Maintain your vehicle, keep records on every repair, offer a 1 year warranty on all parts. Once we have you as a customer our goal is to take care of you and keep you as a regular. In closing I'd like to say we're not a Corporate store where you are just a number, we are just a small independent shop who needs and appreciates your business. So whether you have a small problem or a large one, we are the 1 stop shop you need to be at. Thank You! Mark Pica

So. I was a huge patron of "Speedy'"s just down from me. They changed owners. Some kind of business change. Couldn't even find someone to wait on me a few weeks ago after having them be "my guys"...
Came here for a oil change. 1 worker available what's going on with these Jersey city mechanical shops. 2nd shop in a role telling me to comeback with a appointment.
Needed a leaking transmission pan replaced, and couldn't find any shops nearby that were willing to touch a transmission--besides pepboys who diagnosed it, and asked for an absurd $1,200 to...
Pica's has been more than helpful over the past couple years. They have been honest with me regarding what is worth the money and what is not needed for my clunker commuter car. They've taken my...
