Paramus Rescue Squad

The Paramus Rescue Squad, originally established in 1952 as part of the borough's Civil Defense and Disaster Management, has grown to become a highly respected emergency organization in the Northeast. With notable achievements such as winning the International Extrication Competition in 1990 and securing first place in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Extrication Competition in 1996 and 1997, the squad is known for its expertise in heavy rescue, extrication, CPR, first responder emergency care, and more.

Comprised of extensively trained members, many of whom have completed Firefighter 1 and 2 training, the Paramus Rescue Squad also boasts certified rescue instructors who teach at the Bergen County EMS Training Center. With a focus on continuous improvement, the squad ensures that its members are equipped with the necessary skills and certifications, including hazardous materials and confined space expertise, collapse structure training, and trench rescue.
