The Palace of Depression is a historic landmark property currently undergoing a complete restoration by The Palace of Depression Restoration Association led by Kevin J. Kirchner. The original Palace was built by George Daynor in 1929 and opened to the Public on Christmas Day 1932. Over 250,000 visitors passed through the original Palace and it remained a Vineland landmark until the early 1960’s. In 1964 Daynor died of old age and the original Palace was left unkept and vandals and looters ransacked and destroyed it. The property was sold to the City of Vineland and the original Palace was torn down in 1969, leaving behind only the original ticket booth. In 1998 Palace of Depression Restoration Association President Kevin J. Kirchner started a drive to rebuild The Palace. Running on 100% private donations and volunteer work, Kirchner has been able to completely rebuild The Palace. If you would like to tour The Palace, appointments can be scheduled via email only at this time.
