In addition to his position at Summit Health, Robert A. Fuhrman, MD, FACP, FACE, is Attending Physician in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey.Before joining Summit Health, Dr. Fuhrman practiced with Paramount Medical Group/Endocrine Metabolic Associates in Westfield, New Jersey. He has been Chief of Medicine and Chief in the Department of Medicine Endocrinology Section at Overlook Medical Center. He also has been an endocrinology consultant for Children's Specialized Hospital and a member of the Overlook Medical Center internal medicine staff.Dr. Fuhrman has been Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Medical School and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.Dr. Fuhrman is Former President and a life director of the American Diabetes Association New Jersey Affiliate. He is Former Medical Director and Chairman of the Board of Camp Nejeda and the Camp Nejeda Foundation, which serves children with diabetes. He is Past President and a member of the Union County Medical Society Executive Committee, Past New Jersey State Chairman of the American Medical Association Organized Medical Staff Section, and Former President of the Jewish Community Center of Central New Jersey. He has been a board member of the Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey, Jewish Family Services Agency, and Temple Emanu-El of Westfield. Dr. Fuhrman is a fellow of the Endocrine Society and American College of Endocrinology. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association and New Jersey Motor Vehicle Bureau Diabetes Advisory Board.Dr. Fuhrman is a recipient of more than 22 honors and awards, including the John J. Sheinin, MD, Meritorious Award, Mount Sinai School of Medicine Solomon A. Silver Award, and American Medical Association Physician Achievement Award. For more than 10 years, he has been featured in the Castle Connolly Top Doctors in the New York Metropolitan Area" and Castle Connolly "America's Top Doctors" listings. Siriade Filipe-Izaguirre, DO, specializes in family medicine and osteopathic manipulative treatment. Dr. Filipe-Izaguirre has worked with patients from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds in private practice and academic medicine. For this reason, she is sensitive to barriers to health care access that some patients face.Dr. Filipe-Izaguirre has practiced with the Cypress Health Institute since 2014. She has been a member of the faculty at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School Division of Academic Medicine, Geriatrics, and Community Programs. Most recently, she was an instructor for the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. Dr. Filipe-Izaguirre continues teaching as a volunteer faculty member at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.Dr. Filipe-Izaguirre is Former Medical Director of St. John's Family Health Center in New Brunswick. She has practiced with BGB Group and Mobile Medi Care, both located in Clark, New Jersey. She also has practiced with other New Jersey multiphysician practices focused on family practice, internal medicine, primary care, urgent care, and osteopathic principles and practices.Dr. Filipe-Izaguirre's academic interests include health care delivery systems to improve patient access for elderly and homebound patients as well as underserved populations. She has participated with community organizations that provide patient education, screenings, and medical care for underserved people in Newark and New Brunswick.Dr. Filipe-Izaguirre grew up in Newark. She says, "My family is a first-generation immigrant family that considers Newark its community." For this reason, her reintroduction to the greater Newark community as a physician has been rewarding both at a professional and personal level. She adds, "I am passionate about family medicine, treating and preventing chronic diseases, and promoting wellness.When she is not working with her patients, Dr. Filipe-Izaguirre enjoys spending time with her family, reading, praticing yoga, art, and experiencing different cultures.
