The Department of Correctional Services, also known as DOCS, is responsible for the confinement and habilitation of more than 60,000 inmates in over 65 state correctional facilities. It provides public safety services and has a security services unit. The department also offers information related to inmates. The Department of Correctional Services provides resource management and library solutions. In addition, it offers a transitional services program. The department provides substance abuse treatment services. The Department of Correctional Services also operates a hispanic and cultural affairs division. It offers guidance and counseling solutions. The department is governed by New York State.

The Manhattan Psychiatric Center offers inpatient and outpatient treatment for people who suffer from developmental disabilities. The center provides medication, mental illness education and symptom management training services. The Manhattan Psychiatric Center offers crisis intervention, monitoring, case management and substance abuse counseling services. It provides intensive case management, 24-hour emergency and transitional residence solutions. The center also offers anger management services, as well as features a treatment refractory ward. The Manhattan Psychiatric Center is a part of the Office of Mental Health, which regulates, certifies and oversees more than 2,500 health care programs that are operated by local government and nonprofit agencies.
