The Ocean County Health Department is a public agency that provides a range of health care programs and related services. The department operates administrative, animal facility, environmental, financial, informational technology, personnel, public health nursing and health planning divisions. It offers blood pressure checking, case management, health screening, immunization, crisis intervention and food inspection services. The department additionally provides information and treatment solutions for individuals with AIDS, tuberculosis, eye infections, heart problems, sexually transmitted diseases and cervical cancer. It offers a variety of health education programs through schools and communities. The department also operates the Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Unit, which distributes county and state funds for substance abuse treatment for residents with financial need.
