New Jersey State Police, established in 1921, is a full-service, community-oriented law enforcement agency that protects, preserves, and safeguards the constitutional and civil rights of citizens. It operates a police museum that features a collection of photographs, artifacts, and videotaped and historical items related to the police department. New Jersey State Police maintains the Office of Emergency Management, which handles issues related to emergency preparedness and homeland security that include weather spotting, hazard mitigation, and ground searches and rescue.
