Laparkan was founded in 1982 by three enterprising young friends, Mr John La Rose, Mr Terrence Pariaug and Mr Glen Khan. (Our Company is an acronym of the Founders' names). They saw a need to provide West Indians with a reliable channel to send supplies, gifts and various personal items back home to their families. In 1983, Laparkan opened its doors in Toronto and was in instant success. Word quickly spread and within twelve months, fully functional offices were established in New York, Miami, UK and Georgetown. What began as simple personal effects shipping enterprise has grown over the years into a dynamic, multinational and multi-service operation that we are today. The Freight Group has grown to a Network of 18 locations in the USA and Canada offering service to 28 markets within the Caribbean and Central/South America region. The Freight group offers both Air and Ocean cargo competing in all segments of the market. The market leader in personal effects across the Caribbean, Laparkan equally distinguishes itself in the Commercial sector as a leading ocean cargo consolidator and an indirect air cargo carrier with direct freighter service from Miami into key markets in the Caribbean. In addition, Laparkan offers across its network Money Transfer services In collaboration with Omnex - a fully licensed worldwide money transmitter. In Guyana, Laparkan Holdings Limited comprises a diverse mix of companies offering travel services, the landmark (110 year old) William Fogarty's retail department store and supermarket, office services, financial services and a majority shareholding in one of the largest engineering companies - Guyana National Industrial Company. Today, Laparkan is solely owned by Mr Glen Khan and its Corporate headquarters is located in Miami, Florida, USA.
