HistoryIn 1896, Mark Lake, an ancestor to the Godfrey family established the funeral in Ocean City. As the years passed the business was bought by J. Prescott Cadman in 1926 and named Cadman Funeral Home. After a few years the name was again changed to Cadman-Smith Funeral Home. Herbert L. Godfrey acquired the business in the 60's and changed the name to Godfrey Funeral Home. The business expanded in 1971 adding our second location in Palermo. The funeral profession has remained a tradition in the Godfrey family with two of Herbert L.
