The CRESP Consortium for Risk Evaluation with Stakeholder Participation is a leading organization based in Piscataway, NJ, dedicated to improving the scientific and technical basis for Department of Energy-Environmental Management (DOE-EM) decisions in the field of nuclear waste management. With a strong academic leadership comprising eight academic institutions and a diverse management board of national and international experts, CRESP conducts independent, academic, and expert technical project reviews to enhance the evaluation, effectiveness, and efficiency of waste processing, remediation, long-term stewardship, and nuclear waste management policy strategy.
Since its establishment in 1995, CRESP has attracted over 100 students and faculty from 19 universities, representing 44 multi-disciplinary research areas, who have served 14 DOE sites. Through their approach of stakeholder engagement and communication, including focus groups, surveys, and tool development, CRESP strives to make risk-informed selections among options, contributing to the advancement of nuclear waste management practices and the training of professionals in the field.
