The Colonial House, located in Cape May, NJ, is a historic landmark and the headquarters of the Greater Cape May Historical Society. Originally a tavern and the family home of Revolutionary War patriot Memucan Hughes, it is one of the oldest surviving houses on Cape Island.

Open to the public during specific times of the year, including Victorian Weekend in October and the December Candlelight House tour, the Colonial House offers visitors a glimpse into the rich history of Cape May. As a volunteer-only organization since 1975, the Greater Cape May Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the area, and welcomes individuals from all backgrounds to engage in meaningful conversations about the past.
