Our introduction into the window decorating field grew out of a big disappointment in a private purchase of vertical blinds in 1982. After putting down a deposit for the blinds, we waited and waited, but never received a call for an installation. When we called, we got a disconnected number. When we drove by, there was a for-rent sign on the door. So what did we do? We made lemonade from lemons. We bought the materials, and made the blinds ourselves in our garage. That was our intention, anyway. Our neighbor happened by during the process, admired our work, and ten minutes later, we had sold our first set of blinds. Then another neighbor came by and asked what we were making, and of course, they too now had themselves some new vertical blinds...
