The Cape May Water Department has been providing public water services to the City of Cape May, NJ since 1910. Over the years, the water quality in the Cohansey Aquifer has deteriorated, leading the city to primarily rely on a 2 MGD Desalination Facility that uses reverse osmosis technology to treat brackish water from the Atlantic City 800-Foot Sand Aquifer. With a dedicated team of operators and employees, the department ensures the delivery of potable drinking water to over 4,300 water accounts in the area.

As pioneers in the region, the Cape May Water Department takes pride in being the first facility in the state to successfully remove salt from water wells, providing high-quality drinking water to its customers. In addition to water treatment, the department also handles water distribution, metering, sewer collection, and customer inquiries. They are committed to serving the community and offer assistance programs, such as the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program, to help customers with arrears and tax liens related to water and sewer bills.
