Sussex County Emergency Medical Services is a government facility that provides life support services to the community of Sussex County, Del. The agency offers services through a staff of more than 100 paramedical and support personnel to the community spread on an area of more than 900 square miles. It is a nontransporting agency and works in coordination with the fire department, volunteer ambulance services, hospitals, and state and local police. The agency has a hazardous materials medical response team that provides assistance with chemical identification, safety, air monitoring, medical monitoring, patient care and decontamination to victims of hazardous materials accidents.
