History

Renshi Matthew Butler began training in the Martial Arts in 1995 and has over 20 years of experience. His teacher passed his school (Brattleboro School of Budo) on to Matthew, as is tradition, and is now White Crane Martial Arts.

Specialties

White Crane provides kids and adults of all ages the opportunity to learn traditional Okinawan Karate and Kobudo (weapons) as well as Japanese Aiki Budo (Aikido, Ju Jutsu, etc). We welcome, and encourage, all fitness levels and abilities: training at White Crane can work for everyone! We offer a very welcoming, family-based atmosphere, aiming to help you reach your goals. We are committed to providing the very best in traditional martial arts training. We are also a non-competitive school. Students are encouraged to participate in tournaments, however it is not necessary. They are encouraged to go for the experience, not for medals (medals are just kind of an added benefit).
