It is the wholesome and fresh product line of our restaurant/takeout and franchise operations that has made Sal's Pizza a unique and successful quick-server enterprise. The concept for the company originated in Boston's North End, the renowned enclave of authentic Italian eateries, and where CEO Sal Lupoli did his culinary apprenticeship. This experience was to be a powerful influence in the development of his own signature recipes. In 1990, Sal opened his first location in Salem, N.H., in an 800-square-foot storefront along with his brother, Nick. Armed with business degrees and a passion for hard work, the young entrepreneurs opened the doors. "Straight from Boston's North End" was the foundation of their marketing, and taking the fastest growing restaurant/quick-serve concept in the world and making it better was their mission. Choosing to work with only fresh ingredients and preparing their dough daily, the Lupoli brothers set out to establish a reputation for the best quality, the largest pizza and the lowest price. They offered a 19-inch, three-pound pizza, which quickly became a legend. Brothers Mike and Jim eventually joined the business, and the staff grew. Today, with corporate-owned properties in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, the business has become a large retail franchise and wholesale operation serving all of New England. Today Sal's makes over 40, 000 pizzas a week!
