I also had my fair share of orthopedic injuries. I was fortunate enough to have a caring team of physicians (a pediatrician, an allergist, and an orthopedic surgeon) caring for me. This early experience and my mother being a nurse pointed me in the direction of medicine. Often, my patient\u0027s family members need care, comfort, advice, and support as well. Very seldom is someone treated in isolation. In family medicine, taking care of all family members gives invaluable insight into the entire family. In primary care, we have an advantage over those seeing isolated individuals.
