New Hampshire is a state in the New England northeastern region of the United States. It's bordered by Canada to the north, Maine and the Gulf of Maine to the east, Massachusetts to the south, and Vermont to the west. The state's name comes from the English county of Hampshire. New Hampshire became the 9th state on June 21, 1788. It has some of the highest ski mountains on the coast as well as Mount Monadnock which attracts climbers from around the world. It is known as the "Granite State" for its plentiful quarries. New Hampshire has the second-lowest overall tax burden in the US. With no income, sales, capital gains, or inheritance taxes.
