What is Naturopathic Medicine The term 'Naturopathic Medicine' refers to a distinct system of primary health care that utilizes natural therapies to support and stimulate the body's inherent self-healing process. Founded upon a holistic philosophy, naturopathic medicine combines safe and effective traditional therapies with the most current advances in modern science. Naturopathic medicine is appropriate for the management of a broad range of health conditions affecting people of all ages. Naturopathic doctors ( NDs ) are licensed health care professionals. Naturopathic training consists of four years in a science based pre-med program followed by a four-year doctorate program from an accredited Naturopathic Medical College. Naturopaths are the highest trained practitioners in the broadest scope of natural medicine modalities. In addition to the basic medical sciences and conventional medical diagnosis, naturopathic education includes therapeutic nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, naturopathic manipulative therapy, pharmacology, and IV nutrition. Naturopaths are the only formally trained physicians in drug-herb and drug-nutrient interactions. This allows a naturopath to safely work with patients that are concurrently using pharmaceutical medications. People are sick and tired of being 'sick and tired'.
