Jeffrey Parsonnet, MD

I believe in a holistic approach to healthcare. My treatment style is based on shared decision making. I help my patients understand the options available to them. Then, I help them decide the next steps that make the most sense based on their values and unique situations. I want my patients to feel supported throughout their journey. Whether that journey is pregnancy, surgery, an acute health issue, chronic illness, or life transition, I’m here for them. I strive for the best clinical and surgical outcome possible, but it is just as important that my patients feel heard and supported. I provide a safe, trusting space for individuals to voice concerns or ask questions they may not feel comfortable asking in any other setting. I chose to pursue a career in medicine after helping my father navigate the healthcare system through a chronic illness. I saw how challenging and frustrating the system can be. It is easy to feel overlooked or insignificant. I try to create a space where patients can feel like a person rather than a number and to be themselves. I can’t promise that I have all the answers or solutions. What I can promise is that I will listen to my patients and that we will work together to get as close as possible to the outcome they are hoping for.

Although I was fortunate to have the opportunity to complete residency and fellowship training in New York City, I was born and raised in New Hampshire and love being back in this area, raising my kids, and having the privilege of taking care of patients in New Hampshire and Vermont.I enjoy working in the field of allergy and immunology because we care for a wide variety of age groups. We can get to know and follow the allergic conditions of entire families, which is very rewarding. Also, this is a particularly exciting time to be working in this field because it is evolving so much. New medications and therapies are emerging that help us improve the quality of care we provide for our patients.Asthma and allergies can be very stressful for everyone. The difficulty in breathing that can come with asthma can be scary for children, and sometimes even more so for their parents. I want my patients to know that I'm here to help them to get their disease under control and to help them stay healthy, so that those stressful moments are fewer and farther between. It's so rewarding to see patients make progress, whether it's seeing them outgrow their food allergies so that they can enjoy a food again, or getting their allergies or asthma under control so that they can get back to feeling good and doing what they want to do.

I love the field of obstetrics and gynecology. It allows me to really get to know my patients and journey with them throughout their lives. I do my best to understand their unique concerns and goals so that I can offer the care that supports their needs. The connection I make with each patient is special. It gives me real joy to see my patients doing well and living their lives fully. I enjoy supporting my patients and making a difference in their lives.
