I was drawn to the field of orthopaedics because its very practical. Often there is an obvious fix for a patients pain or orthopaedic issue that will leads to restoring a patients pain-free functions.For some patients, this means that they can return to outdoor activities they love, such as skiing or hiking. For others, it may mean being able to walk without a walker or being able to go grocery shopping without pain. In each case, my goal is to see patients feeling better and excited about the activities they can participate in.I love when people come back to me after we have successfully treated their joint pain and they tell me about the activities theyve been able to return to. It really is amazing to me how much increased mobility can change a person's attitude and lifestyle completely.Our clinic is known for taking our time with patients to explain things clearly, and for being accessible to them both before and after surgery or other treatments. I collaborate closely with Dr. Fillingham, and we both strive to make our practice run as a team. My goal is to provide compassionate and comprehensive orthopaedic care to every one of my patients. As a former athlete, I understand the importance of movement and mobility to each persons physical and mental well-being. Its gratifying to see patients heal and recover. Whether it means getting back to work, gardening, or competitive sports, my goal is to help patients return to the life they enjoy. I view my patients as partners in their own care. I encourage them to actively participate in creating a treatment plan to achieve their goals.

I became an orthopaedic trauma surgeon because I wanted to be able to help people in a very tangible way. As a trauma surgeon, I usually meet people on one of the worst days of their lives. I do my best to put them at ease and let them know we will help them get back to being able to do the things they want to do. In my care, communication is key. Trauma events are stressful by nature and people behave differently under stress. I try to understand what my patients are going through and help them understand what their treatment choices are. Trauma is a team sport. I am fortunate to be able to work with dedicated providers in plastic surgery, general surgery, trauma surgery, emergency medicine and neurosurgery.
